FSC32 Certification

Third-party certifications for animal food safety can be awarded through one of four programs under the Safe Feed/Safe Food (SF/SF) certification program, with FSC32 being the program used for pet food and pet food ingredients. This program is benchmarked with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), meaning it meets the internationally accepted standards for food safety within the food retail industry. It is a good starting point for pet food companies looking to sharpen their employees’ understanding of the regulations with a program trusted by the Food and Drug Administration. Certification Bodies

To get started, you will first need to contact a third-party certification body, which has auditors trained in conducting FSC32 SF/SF audits. This program can be audited by any of the following six certifying bodies that the AFIA works closely with:

• Eurofins
• Food Safety Net Services (FSNS)
• NSF International
• SGS
• Validus
